Caledonian Dandie Dinmont Terrier Club Open Show - 1st August 2009
I would like to thank all the exhibitors who entered their dogs for this show. I consider it an honour to be asked to judge and thoroughly enjoyed my day.
It looked like the dogs all had a good time too (smile).
MPD & PD. No Entries
JD (4):1. Hansford's Cassencarrie Bonnie Lad. Pepper,strong masculine head, deep muzzle, correct bite. Good front with well padded tight feet, balanced overall, a little short of coat on the day. Moved with purpose. 2. Cox-Purcell's Puddockswell Handsome Hector. Mustard, good jacket, similar comments to above but preferred the front and movement of 1. 3. Miller's Puddockswell Moonshadow
ND (3): 1.Skitt & Jones's Vistca Vincent . A well balanced mustard with strong, broad head, well laid shoulders, deep chest, good topline. Coat soft at present, but with work will come good. Moved soundly. 2.Miller's Puddockswell Moonshadow. Pepper, lovely expression, nicely domed head, soft dark eye. Correct front assembly. Movement lacks positive propulsion from the rear. 3. LD.(2):1. Denham's Scottsbairn Duke Of Ross. Masculine looking Pepper with large well proportioned head. Strong punishing jaw, good teeth. Well muscled neck, deep chest, well sprung ribcage, correct length. Overall outline was good with a well defined topline, angulated stifles, short hocks. Jacket a little short on the day. Positive rear propulsion, moved freely. BD.BIS.
2. Smethurst's Dawsholm Dapper Davoc. Smaller frame than 1st. Good skull and stop, with expressive dark eyes. Nice teeth. Straight front with well padded neat feet. Rich pepper jacket of correct texture. Moved ok. Preferred the head, body length and rear movement of 1.
OD.(3): Cadwalladers, Bettymac Sun Samba. Mustard. A masculine dog with a strong head, a little lacking in stop. Well developed maxillary muscles and good teeth, Well laid shoulder but sits back on his front pasterns a little. Excellent spring of rib, deep chest with good length to body ratio. Crisp pencilled coat of correct length. Moved with confidence. ResBD. Res BIS
2. Corless 's Dengold Enterprise A proud looking pepper dog in his rich dark jacket. Pleasing expression, dark eye. Shoulders a little upright giving a wider front, which made his front movement less positive. Held his topline well though. 3. Skitt's Ibolya-Kozi Popey at Deegandan
VD (1): 1.MacInnes's Glencobo Wrekin Lad at Bettymac. Pepper who is 10 years old. Smaller framed than some of the other dogs. Nice head proportions, broad nose with large dark eyes well spaced apart, giving a typical Dandie expression. He moved with enthusiasm and seemed to be enjoying himself. BestVet.
SpecBegDog(1): 1.Barr's Deegandan Cambo . A young mustard dog with a nice temperament, he almost smiled at me. 15 months old and still quite immature. Soft expression well placed dark eyes. Tight well padded feet and good front, Movement a bit stilted, better coming than going.

JB (2,1a): 1. Cottee's Deegandan Alwin, mustard, 15 months old. Liked this little girl, lots of potential. Domed skull, dark eyes, ear set good, feminine face with a soft expression. Well laid shoulder. Correct textured coat. Looked shapely on the move and covered the ground well.
NB (3, 1a): 1. Cottee's Deegandan Alwin (see JB) 2. Robert's Oakseal Zodiac an 8 year old pepper. She had a wise, kindly expression, broad muzzle, strong jaw. Lacked a little in top skull. Shown in a very long coat which detracted from her actual shape. Moved around the ring with a calm dignity befitting her middle years.
PGB(4,1a): 1. Motler's Wazzly Athena. Mustard in correct textured jacket. Nicely domed skull with defined stop, fine leathers. Well laid shoulders and rounded sprung ribcage, good length and kept topline on the move. Weasely shape, typical Dandie outline. 2. Hunter's Puddockswell Hootin Annie at Etsill Mustard, another feminine bitch, in good shape after her recent litter. A lot to like but I preferred the topline and movement on the day of 1. 3. Smith's Truffle Cartridge.
LB (5,1a): 1. Denham's Dentgate Serendipity. Pepper with good head, eyes could be a shade darker, strong jaws, lovely teeth, muscular neck. Well laid shoulders giving a good front assembly. Long foreface in relation to skull. Beautiful pencilled jacket. Well defined topline, Moved positively with drive. 2. Kinsey-Morgan's Inzievar Gold Edition. A finer boned mustard, appealing expression with a soft dark eye. Lacking in top skull and forechest. Good topline. Preferred the front assembly and head of 1. 3. Smith's Somercloud Starprize at Glendandy.
OB(5,2a): 1.Motlers,Wazzly Aphrodite.Mustard. A feminine bitch with good pigment and well placed dark eyes. Fine ears. Well laid shoulder giving a clean front and nice tight feet. Deep chest, well ribbed. Pleasing outline with a good topline. Moved with verve. BB. BOS. 2. Jarvis's Mosterlada Shooting Star. Another feminine mustard bitch with a soft melting expression and dark eye. Shoulders not as laid back as 1, so front assembly not quite as neat. Head not as strong as 1. Correct penciled coat. Moved with confidence. RBB 3.Smith's Truffle Cartridge
Brood Bitch (1): Brackenford Cameo An 11 year old pepper bitch with 2 of her offspring, both 8 years old, a joy to see the 3 veterans looking healthy and happy.
VB(4,1a): 1. Smethurst's Finloren Betsy Trotwood. 7 year old pepper. Good head, dark eye, nice ears, lovely expression, straight front, in excellent coat. 2. Jarvis's Ch. Mosterlada Foxy Lady Pepper nearly 10 years old. Lots of similarities to 1, although her chest has a bit more depth and she has a slightly better topline. 1 moved better on the day. 3. Oakes & Searle's Oakseal Zephyr
