May I thank the Dandie Dinmont Terrier Club very much for this appointment, and also the exhibitors who presented me with some very nice dogs to go over, all very much appreciated.
I noted three or four dogs with not very good fronts and heads not in proportion to muzzles, though coats were on the whole very good. I did miss those fine ear leathers with only a few having these. However, on the whole the dogs were of good quality and I was honoured to judge this show. Many thanks to both Committee and Exhibitors

MPD.1ST Hulme's Hendell Crofter, a long low and weasly puppy with lovely tan legs which are not seen so often these days. This youngster did extremely well considering he was with a new owner (Mrs Bedborough) and at his first show. He has a lovely head to muzzle ratio, cheeky expression, with dark round eyes and a strong set of teeth. A very promising puppy who should go on to do well if his appearance now is anything to go by
2ND Shore's Swanwillow Sea Captain, slightly bigger than one, in nice coat, fine ear leathers, good ribbing, and moving along nicely, a happy little puppy with a lovely dark eye, low tail set and nice expression, nice topline. Very well presented and moving happily.
PD.1st Tinsley's Cloverwood Blues and Royals. A lovely balanced type with a delightful expression, good coat, tan legs, low set ears and tail, dark round eye, lovely head & muzzle proportions, nice ribbing, presented in excellent condition. Moved well. One to watch in future……BPD & BP
2nd Stone's Lindlay Lord of the Isles, bigger puppy than one, somewhat longer in the muzzle, coat was of correct texture and in good condition, moved quite well and should mature on nicely.
J.D 1st.Jacka Slater's Cassencarrie Robbie Burns, presented in lovely coat, nice neck and expression, nice ear leathers, moved well, but tended to flatten out a little on the move, time should improve this, and although standing alone he deserved his first place.

Short of coat but enough to feel correct texture, nicely boned, good heart room, good front and rear angulation, head and muzzle in proportion, Low ear set, kept his top line on the move, and moved well. When his owner gets his coat in order should do well.
2nd Hansford's Cassencarrie Bonnie Lad, An up to size pepper, with a nice round eye and low ear set, good front and head, ,correct tail set, moved out nicely.
3rd Culverhouse's Cassencarrie Gandalf at Lykath.

Open dog (6 entries 1 abs) 1st Deacon's Pennywise Burning Ambition for Cassencarrie, Moves like a dream keeping his topline at all times, lovely angulation gives him plenty of drive both fore and aft. Good front and correct head/muzzle ratio, lovely outline, plenty of heart room, round dark eye and strong mouth, low set ears and tail, in beautiful condition, a well deserved winner and BIS.
2nd Hulme's Vistca Vian of Hendell, another beautifully presented boy with great movement and bone, lovely expression with his round dark eyes, lovely front and angulation, another good outline kept on the move, correct coat texture, tail and ear set. Lovely barrel ribs giving good heart room. Quality dog. RBD.
3rd Cadwalladers Bettymac Sun Samba.
MPB 1st Shore's Swanwillow Sea Breeze, a little more mature than 2, in good coat with nice tan markings, correct ear and tail set, nicely proportioned head/muzzle ratio, nice shoulder set on, moved with confidence
2nd Marshall's Deegandan Lavender, a very sweet puppy, I liked her a lot. Correct coat texture, good mouth, ear and tail set. Maybe her topline is a little exaggerated but this should settle as she matures, She did everything her owner asked of her and I hope she is not overlooked as she is shaping up nicely. A little lady
PB 1st Morris's Cassencarrie Miss Grace at Pennywave, lovely little bitch in good coat, very attractive head in proportion to muzzle, nice round dark eyes, moved well with correct tail set, should be one to watch in future, a quality girl…A little more mature than 2. BOSP
2nd Booth's Cloverwood Candlelight, this one kept catching my eye, lovely red coat, feminine expression, moved quite well, hard decision between these two for different reasons, I hope she does well, a very pretty and shapely youngster.
3rd Derry's Vistca Voodoo
Junior Bitch. 1st Derry's Vistca Voleta, was not so impressed as she entered the ring due to a profuse coat, but upon examination found she had a lovely neck, good mouth, nice bone, correctly proportioned head, nice front and good angulation. She moved off well and seems a sound little bitch, just needs less coat to show off her developing assets…..V. promising.
2nd Morris's Pennywave Amaryllis, Super youngster, it was a nit picking contest with these two, and apart from coat length the same could be said about both of these bitches at this time, lovely little mover with a sweet and feminine expression, I hope she continues with her winning ways. V. promising
N.B. ( 3 entries 1 abs') 1st Hulme's Hendell Fine feathers, nice fronted youngster in good coat and presented well, lovely dark eye, correct tail set, and topline, good ribbing, and with a lovely feminine calm aura. Carried herself well with some drive, promising.
2nd Bedborough's Puddockswell Gilded Lilly from Pitfirrane, just at that in the middle coat stage, a bigger bitch than one but with a nice neck and shape, sound and moved well.
Graduate Bitch. (3 entries 1 abs') 1st Brookes Berdinbrook Pandora, very striking pepper in excellent coat and hard condition, I felt if she had had more room she could have moved out so much better, a little worker by the look of her. She seemed very sound with good tail set, nice ribbing, kept her topline on the move, a promising youngster.
2nd Smith's Somercloud Starprize at Glendandy, nice mustard jacket, very pretty head, moved quite well although at this stage I preferred hind the movement of one. Maturity may well make a difference.

VB. (entries 1 abs')1st Heywood's Ch Schalulleke Lizzy Weaver, very happy girl, nice disposition, in lovely coat, nice front, correct tail set, nice dark eye, moved well enough and overall impressed enough to award her BVIS.
2nd.Hulme's Hendell Evening Star, lovely calm girl who took all of this in her stride despite being the eldest of the veterans, very pretty with a round dark eye, coat at the half way stage but enough to feel correct texture, correct tail set and low ears, ample ribbing, moving soundly and happily around the ring. One you could take home…..
3rd Smethurst's Finloren Betsy Trotwood.
