Southern Dandie Dinmont Terrier Club

Well Summer arrived, it was on Saturday 30th August, it lasted the whole of the day and it was also the City of Birmingham Canine Association Championship Show.

Dandies were judged by breed specialist Patricia Clayton (Kennel Barvae). We were second in the ring after the Airedale Terriers so the temperature in the hall was a little warm. The society do not seem to have many outside ring facilities but space is at a premium.
Best of Breed (BOB) was Irene Carter's Cassencarrie James Blonde, a first CC for both dog and owner. I think anyone who knows the Carter family will appreciate how much this win meant to them after loosing their first Dandie so tragically last year. I don't think Irene stopped shaking all day and when the dog then went on to win Terrier Group Three under judge Raymond Platt (Kennel Tamzin) you could be forgiven for thinking the whole family would burst with pride.

There is a bit of a break now until the next show with CCs for the breed so no more slogging up the motorways for nearly three weeks, then up to Driffield, see you there.
